Hello all to this week’s Cherry Post!
Let’s start the post off by talking about an event I have been looking forward to for quite some time aka Abington Park Museum’s Craft Fair!
As mentioned many times it was one of my favourite venues to do and I got a very good location when I got there around 9.30am (the event started at 11am). I often pick either the grand hall which is the first room you come into at the museum or upstairs in one of the exhibition rooms and this time around I picked the grand hall, when I came in to set up I found myself having a table just opposite the entrance which was great so I didn’t have to worry about potential customers not seeing my stall (pictured above).
Something that you don’t really see in the pics of the stall itself is that behind mine and the stalls either side of me are some pretty cool linocut prints of the museum itself (sadly not made by me)
It was going to look like it was going to be a great day as there was a great selection of stall holders for customers to have a look at and it did start off well for Bonfirecherry as had some sales on notebooks, while they were small sales I was happy to shift some of the notebooks.
For those who don’t know, back in 2016 Bonfirecherry attended it’s first big event and for that I produced around 160+ notebooks by hand and it’s only now I’m getting to the end of the notebooks I’ve got left In stock. I won’t say the name of the event but you can find about it here.
I was very optimistic about the day, I did get told about the England vs Sweden World Cup football match that started at 3pm (the event was on from 11 to 5) but I thought I be alright...oh how wrong I was!
It’s sods law that I wanted another great time at Abington Park Museum but it couldn’t have been on a worst day, possibly the worst day of the year
- Unknown to me that there was 2 other events around Northampton, Northampton’s Town Festival which was on at the park not far away from where I was at & The Battle of Northampton at Delapre Abbey
- Formula One (Random fact, Silverstone where was the F1 was on at isn’t far away from Northampton)
- But it was England vs Sweden that took everyone away. I knew the second people disappeared for the footie that it wasn’t going to get any better so I left early and on the way home there was barely anyone around, the town festival nearby was dead.
Honestly haven’t got anything against the event nor the organisers as when this was planned months ago, nobody could guess that we would have gone further in the world cup (heck with England going the furthest it’s gone since the 90s, its got people like me who have barely any interest in the footie to watch and support them).
With how the event went, I’ve had to do some changes regarding the plans I mentioned last week and with that I’ve decided to reduce the products I’ve got at my Etsy shop to it’s lowest ever price to help fund the new projects coming soon to Bonfirecherry. Find the amazing offers here.
I returned to Dene’s house and to his studio to record episode 5 of the Bonfire Banter podcast, as explained last week we trying to be more frequent with the podcasts so you don’t have to wait so long for each episode.
This week we talked about how to set up a small craft business, from coming up to a name to setting up a facebook page etc.
The Bonfire Banter podcast can now been found on iTunes, if you don’t use iTunes then you can listen to the Bonfire Banter podcast via TheGreatShows.com here.
During the week I had some sales from the 40% off sale at the Bonfirecherry Etsy shop which kept me busy.
I think that’s everything for this week but before I finish the post, if you want to support Bonfirecherry and get rewards in return I recommend becoming a Bonfirecherry Patreon.
Here are a list of some of the rewards you can get depending on how much you want to donate to help Bonfirecherry fund materials & equipment.
