Awhile ago I produced some books inspired products that are still available to order here on this site but never got around to talking about my favourite books that inspired me to do a theme around them. This and because I will be adding even more books to my collection that I have on my bookcase that it seemed a good reason to talk about them.
Trigun is the series that got me into my love of manga all those years ago. I believe it around age 16/17 I went on a day trip to Leeds (my home town) for my birthday with the intention of finding a shop that sold manga which I did find in the end but hand no idea what to buy as there was a lot of options so just choose by random and that was this series. The series is about a character called Vash The Stampede as the wiki puts it
Vash is also known as The Humanoid Typhoon due to the destruction and chaos that often surrounds him. Wielding a huge silver revolver, he travels from town to town to learn more and protect what his adopted mother, Rem, treasured most: love and peace. He is initially discovered by Meryl Stryfe and Milly Thompson, two Bernardelli Insurance Society representatives investigating claims made due to damages caused by the mysterious Humanoid Typhoon.
Part from the story that this character who doesn't like to fight has probably the best & badass weapon in fiction, it was the art style that got my attention too
While Trigun got me into the world of manga, One Piece captured my love for the genre!
I honestly can't rate this series enough, I confess I more read this online via Shonen Jump UK than buy the manga not that I don't love the book it's because at the moment there 79+ volumes (810 chapters) and it is still going, it's actually the longest running manga of all time that is only 70% the way through the story that I am better off waiting til it ends to buy them all
I am 25 as I am writing this but I am still a big kid at heart who is a sucker for stories like this and it's art style that keep my attention every week . The series itself has inspired a lot of my work from Yonko's Messenger (the name), Robin's War (name), Chopper (name as the character is also a deer) and both versions of Lily The Owl Princess (Style + the hair)
Catcher In The Rye
Such a great book by J.D. Salinger, I came across this book in college it just kept on getting my attention that just by reading the first page I got hooked!
It's only 1 of 2 books that I own that I have 2 copies of (other being a book about Banksy) one for the bookcase and another that I always bring to fairs for when it goes quiet. I like to believe it's more of a book for those at school/college/university than any other time of your life as the character is around that age and you can understand where he is coming from but it can be read when you are an adult too!
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (Millennium) series
I got into the series when the american adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon tattoo with Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara was the cinema that I wanted to understand the story before I watched the film that I bought the first book which I loved, watched the film & then bought the other 2 books (at the time it was only a trilogy)!
The last time I read another book straight another was the Harry Potter books as a kid, I confess I am not really into the crime genre but wow what a great story and great characters! I believe it was the characters I loved more than the story in some aspects especially in the first book with the relationship between Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist with Salander being in my top 10 all time favourite fictional characters!
I confess the time I am writing this I haven't read the 4th book which I am planning to whenever I get the time which I am hoping to be soon
